Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization Metropolitan Transportation Plan 2020 Update 2020-2040 – Notice of Opportunity for Public Comment

Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization (KMPO), as the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for Kootenai County, works in collaboration with local jurisdictions and agencies, as well as the Idaho Transportation Department, to develop and maintain a Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) that forms the basis for which regionally significant transportation investments are identified and funded.   The purpose of the MTP is to document existing transportation conditions; anticipate the future impacts associated with growth and development; and identify regionally significant transportation investments that will be necessary to ensure continued mobility for the traveling public.  The MTP supports funding transportation improvements within Kootenai County, which anticipates the use of Federal aid funds available through the USDOT – Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA).   The MTP includes potentially eligible projects that are both traditional capital investments, as well as nontraditional capital investments, that support the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, as well as the utilization of public and non-motorized transportation.
