2021-2027 Transportation Improvement Program
Notice of Availability and Public Comment Period
A draft of the Kootenai Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (KMPO) seven-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) 2021-2027 is now available for public review and comment. The TIP is a multi-year funding program document that lists federally and non-federally funded transportation improvements proposed by local jurisdictions, highway districts, Kootenai County, Idaho Transportation Department and the Coeur d’ Alene Tribe during the next six years. This document and review period includes Kootenai County’s 2021 Program of Projects (POP) using Federal Transit Administration’s Section 5307 funding to support of public transportation activities in the Coeur d’ Alene-Post Falls Urbanized area. Kootenai County has completed their public notice and public involvement activities for public review and comments. The results from Kootenai County’s process has been incorporated into the TIP and will be used to satisfy the POP requirements as required by the Federal Transit Administration.
To view or download the TIP, go to www.kmpo.net or call KMPO at (208) 930-4164 for a copy. The comment period is from Monday July 27, 2020 through Thursday, August 28, 2020. All comments must be received by KMPO no later than Thursday August 27, 2020 through one of the following options: email firstname.lastname@example.org; mailing or delivering to KMPO, 250 Northwest Blvd. Suite 209, Coeur d’ Alene ID 83814; calling (208) 930-4164; or going on www.itd.idaho.gov/funding/?target=draft-itip for an opportunity to review and comment on individual projects elsewhere in the State of Idaho. The public comment period provides an opportunity for the community to review the proposed use of State and Federal transportation grant funds over the next seven years prior to approving the program of projects. Comments received during the public comment period will be provided to the KMPO Board for their consideration prior to adoption of the 2020-2026 TIP. KMPO will be holding a public open house on Wednesday August 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to review the program and provide public comments during the public comment period. The Open House will be via Zoom.

The KMPO Board will be considering an Action Item to approve the 2021-2027 Transportation Improvement Program on Thursday September 10, 2020 at their regular Board meeting, located at 408 N. Spokane Street, Post Falls, ID starting at 1:30 p.m. in the City of Post Falls City Council Chambers; unless COVID-19 restrictions will require and online meeting. An opportunity to provide comment on the TIP will be provided at the meeting.
