Proposed Stimulus Package List

In anticipation of a potential national economic recovery act, KMPO has identified transportation projects which may be candidates for federal economic stimulus funding.

The recovery act is a $800+ billion package aimed at funding the construction of infrastructure such as road, transit, and highway projects in an effort to stimulate the economy by creating 3 million jobs over two years.

KMPO worked with Kootenai County transportation agencies to develop the project list.  At this time, we don’t have specific numbers on how much money would come into the area through this package if passed, nor do we know the federal requirements, or the timeline involved.  If the stimulus package is passed, we cannot guarantee that the proposed projects will be constructed. The only thing we do know for sure is that this is a draft list and the projects included need to be considered ‘shovel ready,’ meaning they can be ready for construction within 90 to 180 days.

The illustrative lists below shows roadway and public transportation projects which may be added to KMPO’s 5-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) if additional transportation funding is made available.  The public is invited to comment on these projects.

The public comment period runs from 2/4/09 to 3/8/09. Comments can be emailed to kmpo@kmpo.net, mailed to KMPO at the address below, or submitted by calling 1-800-698-1927.
